Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Manager of Subcontractor Labor to oversee all aspects of subcontractor workforce planning, relations, and management for our exterior construction company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction industry subcontractor practices, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to develop and implement effective subcontractor management strategies. 

Key Responsibilities: 

1. Subcontractor Workforce Planning and Management: 

   - Develop and implement comprehensive subcontractor management strategies aligned with company goals and project demands 

   - Forecast subcontractor labor needs based on current and future projects 

   - Coordinate with project managers to ensure optimal subcontractor staffing levels across all job sites 

   - Implement efficient systems for tracking subcontractor time, attendance, and productivity 

2. Subcontractor Relations: 

   - Serve as the primary liaison between the company and subcontractor firms 

   - Negotiate and administer subcontractor agreements 

   - Resolve disputes with subcontractors in a timely and effective manner 

   - Ensure subcontractor compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and contractual obligations 

3. Installation Training  

- Conduct training sessions for subcontractors to ensure they follow the company's installation methods and quality standards 

- Develop and update training materials and manuals based on best practices and feedback 

- Monitor and evaluate subcontractor performance and provide feedback and coaching 

- Identify training gaps and needs among subcontractors and design appropriate interventions 

 

4. Subcontractor Selection and Retention: 

   - Develop and implement strategies to attract and retain high-quality subcontractors 

   - Create and maintain a database of qualified subcontractors 

   - Implement a subcontractor evaluation and rating system 

   - Build and maintain relationships with trade associations and subcontractor networks 

  

5. Safety and Compliance: 

   - Work closely with the Safety Director to ensure all subcontractor practices align with company safety standards 

   - Stay informed about changes in laws and regulations affecting subcontractor management in the construction industry 

   - Ensure all subcontractors receive proper safety orientation and adhere to site-specific safety requirements 

  

6. Performance Management: 

   -Implement processes to assess and maintain the quality of subcontractor work. --Conduct periodic inspections and audit performance evaulation systems for subcontractors 

   - Collaborate with project managers to set performance standards and goals for subcontractors 

   - Address performance issues with subcontractors and implement improvement plans as needed 

  

7. Budget Management: 

   - Develop and manage subcontractor labor budgets for all projects 

   - Analyze subcontractor costs and implement strategies to improve efficiency and reduce expenses 

   - Provide regular reports on subcontractor metrics and financial performance to executive leadership 

  

8. Technology Integration: 

   - Evaluate and implement subcontractor management technologies to improve efficiency 

   - Ensure proper integration of subcontractor data into company systems 

  

9. Leadership and Team Development: 

   - Provide mentorship and guidance to project managers on subcontractor management 

   - Foster positive relationships with subcontractors that promote safety, productivity, and quality 

   - Conduct regular meetings with project teams to address subcontractor-related concerns and share best practices 

Requirements

- Bilingual – Spanish and English  

- 50% Travel

-Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field; 

- Minimum 5 years of hands-on exterior construction experience  

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management 

- Thorough understanding of construction subcontracting practices, laws, and regulations 

- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills 

- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities 

- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful subcontractor management strategies 

- Proficiency  MS Office suite 

  

Physical Requirements: 

- Ability to visit and navigate construction sites safely 

- Ability to provide hands on construction installation training 

- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to multiple job sites as needed 

Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off. 

Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000
