Are you an animal lover with hands-on veterinary experience looking for a rewarding role where you can help pets every day? Dent County Veterinary Center is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our dedicated team!
What You’ll Do:
- Animal Care: Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with patient care, including restraining animals, collecting samples, and monitoring vital signs during exams and procedures.
- Prepare for Exams and Surgeries: Set up exam rooms and prepare animals for procedures, surgeries, or treatments, ensuring everything is clean and organized for the veterinary team.
- Assist with Diagnostics: Help with diagnostic tests such as blood draws, X-rays, and sample collection, ensuring proper protocols are followed.
- Client Communication: Explain treatment plans and post-care instructions to clients, ensuring they feel informed and supported regarding their pets’ health.
- Medication and Treatment Assistance: Administer medications as prescribed by veterinarians, assist with wound care, and help with other treatments under the supervision of the vet.
- Maintain Cleanliness: Ensure a clean and sanitary environment in exam rooms, surgical suites, and treatment areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment.
Support the Team: Pitch in with other tasks as needed, such as stocking supplies, maintaining medical records, and helping at the front desk when necessary.
Requirements
What We’re Looking For:
- Veterinary Experience: At least 1 year of hands-on experience working in a veterinary setting is required, ideally in a veterinary assistant or similar role.
- Passion for Animal Care: A deep love for animals and a commitment to providing compassionate care is essential.
- Team Player: You’ll be working closely with veterinarians, technicians, and other staff, so we need someone who thrives in a collaborative, supportive environment.
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy is crucial, especially when it comes to administering medications, recording patient information, and assisting with procedures.
Strong Communication Skills: You’ll be interacting with both the team and pet owners, so clear and compassionate communication is key.
