SUMMARY
BFS engineers are given the opportunity to explore and support a variety of areas in an aviation engineering role.
Repair development & certification requires a problem-solving mindset, responsibilities include conceptualizing and
substantiating repairs for removed aircraft components as well and new designs or design changes “clean sheet”. This
position requires excellent communication, problem solving skills, and a strong CAD skillset.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO):
- Ability to review technical reference material and make logical decisions.
- Assist with developing new repairs and/or updating existing repair criteria.
- Assume responsibility for small to medium projects from start to finish.
- Ensure compliance when applicable with repair criteria or other published limitations.
- Developing models and 2D dimensioned prints ranging from simple to complex
- Assist with mathematical analysis and computations for repair and certification projects
- Review and develop documents including: repair procedures, repair substantiations and certification project
documents
Requirements
SKILLS AND ABILITIES (MINIMUM)
- Familiarity with metrology.
- Proven experience with Microsoft Office.
- Intermediate to Advanced level CAD drafting skills minimum (SolidWorks preferred).
- Experience reviewing dimensioned and toleranced drawings (including flag notes and bills of materials).
- Experience with aviation quality systems and technical processing specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Desire to learn, seek out issues and take ownership to resolve issues quickly.
- Advanced project management skills.
- Basic to intermediate stress and other mechanical analysis skills
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE (MINIMUM)
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field (electrical, mechanical, or engineering technology degree)
- (Preferred) Passion for aviation
- (Preferred) Hands-on experience with aviation quality or supplier interface.
- (Preferred) Experience with 14 CFR Part 21, 43, 29/27, 23/25 regulations and design criteria
