Full Job Description
The Controller will manage the company’s financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and effective internal controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, financial analysis, and leadership, with a focus on improving financial processes and supporting strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Coordinate with external auditors and manage the audit process.
- Reporting and oversight of tax preparation
- Manage the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory requirements.
- Oversight and ability to do daily reporting requirements per industry requirements
- Lead the annual budgeting process and provide ongoing financial forecasts.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Develop and implement effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial records.
- Monitor and evaluate internal controls to ensure efficiency and compliance.
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management.
- Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting team.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Coordinate with other departments to support overall company goals and objectives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial role.
- Experience in public accounting and/or in a similar industry is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
Working Conditions:
- Office environment with occasional travel required.
- Extended hours may be necessary during peak financial periods.
