The Behavioral Services Manager plays a crucial role in the administrative oversight and coordination of behavioral health services within skilled nursing facilities. This position focuses on ensuring the seamless integration of behavioral health programs, adherence to regulatory standards, and the enhancement of overall service quality. You will collaborate closely with facility staff, healthcare professionals, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient care delivery.
This job operates primarily within the nursing facility setting at contracted facilities, with occasional administrative duties performed in an office or home office environment. As such, the noise level may vary from quiet to high, and may include ambient noise, including sounds commonly found in a healthcare setting. Employees interact with and work near co-workers, residents, families, and healthcare professionals on a frequent basis. Individuals in this role must be able to remain stationary for long periods of time while providing care, completing required documentation and attending to residents' needs. This position relies heavily on the ability to navigate electronic health records systems and utilize technology for patient care and documentation.
Requirements
- An individual must be able to perform the essential functions satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Adherence to applicable policies and procedures at contracted facilities, including infection control protocols and safety guidelines.
- Tuberculosis (TB) screening with documented results, completed within the last (12) months.
- Up to date COVID-19 vaccination, if required by contracted nursing facility.
- Must have reliable transportation to travel to and from nursing facilities.
- CPR & First Aid Certification required.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) Certification required.
Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative leadership and support for behavioral health programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.
- Provide oversight for administrative interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of employees.
- Manage and lead teams effectively across different facility locations while fostering a cohesive team culture and facilitating communication.
- Coordinate training programs for new staff and identify training needs for current staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide mentorship for direct reports that are timely and constructive.
- Manage rewards, disciplinary actions, and terminations in accordance with policies.
- Oversee the planning, assigning, directing, completing, and auditing of work for staff, ensuring effective processes within the department.
- Establish and monitor performance metrics and goals for staff.
- Manage relationships with healthcare providers within the organization and at contracted facilities.
- Report regularly on departmental outcomes and initiatives.
- Develop and implement policies and standard operating procedures as necessary for the department.
- Participate in or shadow staff during case consultations or in-person meetings with the facility clinical team.
- Ensure staff follow all applicable processes and policies to support the behavioral program in accordance with CMS guidelines.
- Provide coverage as needed for team members to ensure necessary tasks are completed for continuity of services.
- Collaborate in person with facility teams to integrate behavioral health services seamlessly into the overall care plan, ensuring continuity and effectiveness of treatment.
- Create and/or implement company initiatives and performance enhancement activities.

- Ensure staff members meet all necessary training, certification, and continuing education requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all state, federal, local, and applicable state board requirements, provisions, and laws related to healthcare and behavioral health practices.
- Adhere to all applicable company policies, practices, and procedures to maintain compliance with organizational standards.
- Stay up-to-date with any required trainings, certifications, or continuing education requirements relevant to role, compliance requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Adhere to mandatory reporting standards, and company compliance requirements including but not limited to actively participate in investigations, audits, and monitoring activities as required.
- Performing additional tasks, duties, and assignments as directed by your supervisor.
