A well-established modular building manufacturer in the construction industry is seeking for a Production Manager to join their team.
As a Production Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of production projects, e.g. planning, organizing, and controlling production. Your role will involve managing and coordinating activities related to the production process, ensuring that projects are executed following budget, time frame, and quality requirements. You will ensure safe and effective operation and that all products are produced efficiently, on time, and within budget and to standards.
This requires overall coordination of production, scheduling, health and safety, quality assurance, coaching and development, and continuous improvement activities within the process areas. Responsible for leading the team in its mission to meet or exceed all of our customer's expectations while meeting process metrics. The Production Manager complies with policies, regulations, and values for safety, quality, environment, and financials.
Objectives
- Defines goals, improves techniques, and resolves problems in conjunction with managers across the organization.
- Translate customer requirements into manufacturing strategies and processes, resulting in cost-effective processing and profitable manufacturing of company products.
- Lead operations-related plans, budgets, policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Drive manufacturing performance by directing all production in process on the shop floor, to meet schedules that allow for superior customer satisfaction and high plant efficiency by establishing and executing operating plans and objectives.
- Implement and control the production by maintaining daily schedule tracking, reviewing and adjusting the schedule as needed.
- Determine material resources required to complete the schedule.
- Manage and acquire personnel to meet production targets by completing personnel request forms, and coordinating with HR to acquire personnel.
- Make decisions about equipment use, maintenance, modification, and procurement.
- Support business and technical aspects of project improvements
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Manufacturing, or a related field.
- Equivalent experience to a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Manufacturing, or a related field may be considered. This includes a demonstrated track record of several years of hands-on experience and progressive responsibility in manufacturing, production, or construction management, specifically within the modular or prefabricated construction industry.
- 5+ years of proven experience in manufacturing, production, or construction management, particularly in modular or prefabricated construction.
Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of Modular Construction: Understanding the principles and intricacies of modular construction methods, prefabrication, and assembly processes.
- Manufacturing Expertise: Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and techniques for optimizing production processes.
- Understanding of Building Codes and Regulations: Knowledge of construction standards, building codes, and regulations specific to modular construction.
- Quality Control and Assurance: Experience in implementing quality control measures to ensure high standards in manufacturing and assembly.
Managerial and Leadership Skills:
- Team Leadership: Ability to lead and manage production teams, ensuring efficiency and productivity.
- Problem-solving and Decision-making: Strong decision-making abilities to resolve issues that may arise during the production process.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to liaise with various stakeholders, including design teams, suppliers, and site management.
- Project Management: Skills in project planning, scheduling, and execution to meet deadlines and quality standards.
- Budgeting and Cost Control: Ability to manage budgets, control costs, and optimize resource utilization.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual English and Spanish a plus
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in project management, manufacturing, or construction management can be advantageous.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with CAD software, project management tools, and manufacturing-related software applications.
- Safety and Compliance: Understanding and experience in implementing safety protocols and compliance measures within a manufacturing environment.
