Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. is recruiting a Quality Control Engineer III.

The Quality Control Engineer III is responsible for leadership and demonstrated commitment to the achievement of quality performance and improvement including areas of worker, public, and environmental health, and safety. The Quality Control Engineer III is responsible for quality performance and improvement primarily in the areas of independent and management assessments, supplier qualifications, lessons learned, and support to field operations and other support organizations.
General Responsibilities and Knowledge Skills:
- Under little to no supervision, participates in management team activities to build strong management systems to support all aspects of assigned projects/programs.
- Expert knowledge and ability to develop and apply highly advanced principles, concepts and techniques in quality assurance, contractor assurance, and management systems.
- Skill and ability to perform critical strategic tasks and to interpret broad strategic requirements and develop and execute plans to satisfy them.
- Ability to have major impact on organizational success and productivity, with extensive latitude for independent judgment.
- Ability to communicate effectively at the highest levels.
- Ability to develop and lead large-sized projects, including defining scope, objectives, and methods.
- Ability to train and mentor more junior staff.
- Can be viewed as an expert in assessment performance.
- Level of language skills, communication skills, reasoning ability and computer skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job.
Specific Responsibilities and Knowledge/Skills:
- High level of responsibility, accountability, and impact on the organization through this function.
- Acts as a content expert and/or internal consultant applying leadership and functional expertise for the area of designated responsibility.
- Follow or set a strategy and goals for the work group and review results.
- May be assigned to project teams.
- Conducts, leads and/or participates in independent and management assessments.
- Viewed and functions as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the assessment program.
- Coordinates with environmental, safety and health functions in achieving integrated management, environmental management, and performance assurance systems.
- Reviews plans, procedures, procurement documents and management reports to ensure QA program elements are included when needed.
- Performs duties associated with software quality control, subcontractor evaluations and performance measurement.
- Coordinates the implementation of the assessment tracking system. Ensures the assessment tracking system is maintained and accurate.
- Serves as QA Coordinator on complex issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in science or equivalent in science, engineering, or appropriate related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- The candidate should be an experienced professional with a minimum of 10 years’ experience and understand the service-based quality concept.
- Expertise should include quality program development and maintenance, assessment program implementation, process improvement, and quality performance measures and metrics.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications and basic computer skills.
- At a minimum the candidate should have five or more years’ experience with:
- Environmental quality control and/or quality assurance programs.
- DOE or NRC quality program activities in an industrial/nuclear complex.
- Supervision and management of personnel.
- Qualified lead auditor experience preferred.
Relevant experience in lieu of education requirements will be considered.
Working Conditions:
- When working at the Nevada Support Facility at DOE, NLV Complex the work is primarily office and office support but will require some field work.
- Field work includes the ability to wear personal protective equipment (safety glasses, safety toed boots, hard hats, etc.).
- Overtime may be required to complete assigned tasks.
