Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting for a Safety Engineer II/III in Las Vegas, NV.

The Safety Engineer II/III will report to the Health and Safety Manager and provide technical expertise, leadership and management to the Health and Safety organization.
General Responsibilities and Knowledge Skills:
- Under supervision provides skill and ability to perform tasks.
- Ability to perform tasks and oversight involving safety and health with knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, procedures and reporting requirements.
- Knowledge of construction safety, drilling operations, electrical safety, driving safety, and the DOE Integrated Safety Management System.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at various levels.
- Level of language skills, mathematical skills, communication skills, reasoning ability and computer skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job.
- Demonstrated ability to perform substantially varied duties.
- Demonstrated ability to handle the issues and questions from field personnel.
- Demonstrated ability to execute procedures and processes as necessary to perform tasks.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software.
- Must be able to complete and maintain all training and qualifications required for the position.
Specific Responsibilities and Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance.
- Maintains current knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, ordinances, pertaining to Health and Safety.
- Follow strategy and goals for the Health and Safety organization.
- May be assigned to project teams.
- Develops and implements inspection programs and procedures designed to ensure compliance with worker safety and health regulations.
- Develops, implements and monitors corrective measures to minimize or eliminate non-compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health environmental science, or related field, and at least 5 years’ experience.
- Must have 1 year of experience at a DOE facility.
- Education or experience that is job related may be substituted on a case-by-case basis.
- Certification as ASP desirable.
Working Conditions:
- When working at the DOE Facility, Molasky Building work is primarily office support, work performed at the NNSS the work is primarily field related where physical effort may be required, up to and not limited to lifting, bending, reaching, standing, and walking for long periods of time.
- Must have the ability to wear personal protective equipment and to work in remote, desert environments.
Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.
