Full Job Description

The Laboratory Technician supports the R&D department throughout the new product innovation process by preparing samples, keeping detailed laboratory books, performing analytical and organoleptic testing, developing result reports, and keeping the laboratory clean and organized.

Essential Responsibilities:

·         Manufacture samples in different scales; bench top, reactor and 10kg bachiller equipment.

·         Calculate sample and ingredient sizes for the requested formulations.

·         Follow processing conditions and report any differences that could have occurred during the actual manufacturing process.

·         Carefully observe and report in laboratory books the product behavior during sample manufacture and testing.

·         Keep track of all samples manufactured with the detailed processing conditions and formulation.

·         Perform analytical and organoleptic tests and keep good records of the results.

·         Develop and update equipment logs.

·         Prepare result reports.

·         Keep the R&D laboratory organized with proper labeling and inventory.

·         Clean laboratory bench tops, glass ware, and instruments.

·         Deliver supply needs list to R&D Coordinator for purchase.

·         Make sure the equipment is operating properly, troubleshooting, and performing any preventive maintenance as needed.

·         Manage the in-house raw materials needed from production.

·         Source any in-house container or supplies.

·         Provide research support for R&D Director.

·         Other duties as assigned.

·         Maintain a safe and healthy environment at Badger by reporting any issues or injuries immediately and participating in all safety training.

 

Requirements

Education

·         Degree in chemistry-related science and/or scientific methodology learned on the job or continuing education.

 

Experience and Skills

·         1-2 years of experience in laboratory activities.

·         Computer skills in windows, excel, and power point.

·         Strong organizational skills with detail-oriented focus.

·         Fast learning skills.

·         High interest in science and natural products.


Physical Requirements:
Physical requirements for the job include but are not limited to prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Employees should be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
