POSITION SUMMARY
Oversee the development and implementation of manufacturing processes to maintain proper product functionality as well as cost efficiency. Ensures that the engineering team and other manufacturing departments work together cohesively and is responsible for the development of best practices to streamline the manufacturing process. This position requires in-depth knowledge of many different manufacturing processes, mentoring of engineering staff and companywide cross functional collaboration.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Process Creation: Define and develop manufacturing and inspection processes.
· Create Routings: Create manufacturing routings based on project requirements provided by project engineering.
· Work Instructions: Create and maintain work instructions and setup sheets.
· Control Plans: Establish control plans for critical features.
· Meet Customer Requirements: Define inspection requirements to meet contractual customer requirements.
· Process Improvement: Champion process development and improvement to improve manufacturing quality and efficiency.
· Root Cause: Determine and eliminate root cause of quality defects created by existing manufacturing processes.
· Improve Product Flow: Assist in developing facilities, equipment and operations for better utilization of space and flow of product.
· Develop & Improve Processes: Develop tools, fixtures, test equipment required for manufacturing.
· Identify New Technologies: Identify new manufacturing technologies and equipment to and reduce cost and manufacturing risks while promoting efficiencies manufacturing
· NPI: Support new product introduction (NPI) and legacy orders working with a team of Program Managers and Project Engineers to meet shipment goals.
· Professional Conduct: Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for creating a professional, safe, and clean environment evidenced by: being at work on time to perform assigned duties, following the policies of Granite State Manufacturing, always wearing safety glasses in designated areas, maintaining a neat and orderly work area, and following safety practices to prevent errors.
· Teamwork and Collaboration: Demonstrates commitment to teamwork by establishing effective relationships and networks with both managers/directors and staff, collaborating with them to accomplish shared purposes and goals.
· Ethics and Compliance: Abides by GSM Code of Ethics and Business Conduct standards and strictly observes all U.S. and foreign laws and regulations.
Requirements
· 5+ years of experience developing manufacturing processes for machining, welding and/or electromechanical assembly.
· 3+ years of experience in a defense/aerospace related job shop environment.
· BS in an Engineering discipline (or equivalent work experience)
· Experience with manufacturing processes
o CNC machining
o Sandblasting/painting/coating/plating
o Welding and straightening
o heat treating.
o Assembly
o Non-Destructive Testing
o Mechanical Testing
· Demonstrated understanding of GD&T.
· Experience interpreting detailed engineering drawings.
· Experience with project management responsibilities.
· Proficiency in MS Office Products
· Demonstrated proficiency in SolidWorks.
· Excellent communication skills
· Ability to obtain a security clearance a plus.
· Ability to mentor both engineering and shop personnel
· Demonstrate effective Root Cause and Corrective Action analysis
· Ability to work within the guidelines of the ERP/MRP
· Ability to develop engineering standards to streamline engineering tasks
