Assistant General Manager

Gary’s Wine & Marketplace is one of the largest fine wine retailers in the New York metropolitan area with store locations in Bernardsville, Closter, Madison. Commitment to attentive service by a knowledgeable staff and an incredible selection of wine, beer, spirits and gourmet is what sets us apart from other wine stores.

We are seeking a hands-on Assistant Manager (AM) who has the passion and dedication required to play a vital role in the growth of Gary’s business. The AM is second in charge of all store functions. The AM is expected to have an expert knowledge of all store operations and products; direct and monitor the staff in their duties; and handle customer service issues. The AM is responsible for helping to meet all financial and staffing goals. We are looking for an energetic individual to be a strong, focused management presence, not only in maintaining outstanding guest services, but also in passionately training and inspiring Gary’s staff.

Requirements

Job Requirements:

• In-depth knowledge of wine and spirits
• 3 years retail managerial experience is critical; preferably in managing a fine wine store
• Superb customer skills
• Proficiency in Vision
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook
• A flexible schedule which includes working some evenings and weekends
• Ability to lift 40 lbs.

• Excellent time-management skills
