Talent Vision, a leading Staffing and Consulting Firm, is partnering with a STEM-focused Charter School in Trenton, NJ, to fill the position of Mathematics Director. As the Mathematics Director, you will provide visionary leadership and guidance in developing and implementing the school's mathematics curriculum. Your expertise in mathematics education and your passion for fostering a love of learning will help shape the mathematics program and ensure students' academic success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive mathematics curriculum that aligns with the school's educational philosophy and standards.
- Provide instructional leadership, working collaboratively with teachers to enhance mathematics instruction and ensure high-quality teaching practices.
- Create and implement professional development opportunities for mathematics teachers, sharing best practices and incorporating research-based strategies.
- Keep up-to-date with current trends and developments in mathematics education, incorporating innovative approaches and pedagogical techniques.
- Collaborate with administrators and other department heads to integrate mathematics across various subject areas and promote interdisciplinary learning.
- Assess and analyze student performance data to inform instructional decision-making and monitor the effectiveness of the mathematics program.
- Coordinate and oversee the administration of standardized math assessments.
- Collaborate with parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns.
- Establish partnerships with community organizations and universities to enhance mathematics education opportunities for students.
- Maintain a positive and collaborative working relationship with colleagues, administrators, and parents/guardians.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field is required; a Masters degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in teaching mathematics at the secondary level.
- Prior leadership experience in mathematics education, such as department chair or curriculum coordinator, is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of mathematics curriculum standards and instructional best practices.
- Passion for mathematics education and a commitment to fostering a love of learning in students.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Experience in designing and delivering professional development for mathematics educators.
- Strong data analysis skills and the ability to use data to inform instructional decision-making.
- Proficiency in using technology tools and resources to enhance mathematics instruction.
- Organizational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
