Job Summary:
As a High School Chemistry and Physics Teacher at McCorristin Charter School, you will inspire students to explore the fascinating worlds of chemistry and physics, fostering their curiosity, critical thinking, and scientific inquiry skills. You will deliver engaging and rigorous instruction aligned with New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) for Science and promote hands-on experimentation, laboratory investigations, and real-world applications of scientific principles. This position requires expertise in chemistry, physics, and physical science, as well as a commitment to student success and academic excellence.
Responsibilities:
All actions of the Physical Science teacher shall be in compliance with the philosophy, mission, terms, and intent of the school’s bylaws and handbooks of Policies and Practices for Elementary and Secondary Schools.
- Develop appropriate curriculum and lessons to ensure a cohesive learning trajectory from year to year and to meet the individual needs, interests, diversified skill set, and abilities of each student;
- Enable the students to think creatively while constructing ideas and solving problems;
- Have the ability to teach a variety of Chemistry and Physics courses and labs;
- Through instruction and tools, enable the students to become critical thinkers with the ability to collaborate in small and large groups as they learn to think logically and critically;
- Differentiate instruction and materials to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of all students;
- Remain current with new developments in subject matter content, teaching methods, instructional strategies, education technology, and education research for Chemistry/Physics;
- Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to inform them about the school programs and to discuss student progress;
- Supervises student behavior in the hallways, lunchroom, and on school grounds for the safety and well being of students, staff, and visitors;
- Participates in professional development activities, faculty meetings and supports the school’s extracurricular activities;
- Performs other related duties / assignments assigned by the principal/ designee.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $54,000.00 per year

Requirements
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Physics, Physical Science, Science Education, or related field;
- New Jersey Teacher Certification in Physical Science or eligibility for certification through the New Jersey Department of Education;
- Strong content knowledge and expertise in chemistry, physics, and physical science concepts and principles;
- Demonstrated ability to effectively teach and differentiate instruction for diverse student populations;
- Experience in designing and facilitating laboratory experiments and hands-on inquiry-based learning activities;
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills;
- Commitment to student-centered teaching, safety, equity, and inclusion in science education;
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents/guardians, and community stakeholders;
- Bi-lingual preferred but not required.
