Gary's Wine & Marketplace, owned and operated locally, is one of the largest brick-and-mortar and internet wine retailers in the tri-state area. Our stores offer one of the most extensive, competitively priced fine wine, spirits, craft beers, gourmet items, and gift selections. We are well-known for our excellent, personable customer service and our knowledgeable wine staff.
The role of a General Manager is multi-faceted, given that they oversee all store functions. This team member must develop expert knowledge of all store operations and products. Key responsibilities include the following:
- Direct and monitor all team members in their duties.
- Oversee staff development and ensure the appropriate team members properly train all new hires.
- Oversee all customer service issues.
- Build sales goals and staffing models to meet the store's financial targets.
- Oversee the success of all team leads, including Front-End Lead, Gourmet Lead, Wine Team Lead, Beer Team Lead, and Receiving Manager.
- Ensure the store remains properly stocked and is well-merchandized with endcaps and product displays.
- Oversee the reordering team to ensure that the appropriate stock levels of all product categories and materials are brought into the store at the proper times.
- Synthesize and communicate store issues and needs to the company leadership.
Requirements
- 7+ years of retail managerial experience.
- 3+ years experience working in a wine retail store.
- A systems-oriented leader who can create, implement, and execute store procedures as needed.
- A solid managerial presence with the ability to lead a team through positive reinforcement.
- Ability to provide constructive criticism to team members in a way that motivates and inspires.
- Comfort and experience using technology, including point of sale software, e-commerce fulfillment software, customer support ticketing software, employee scheduling software, and delivery routing software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Strong customer service skills and a passion for delighting store guests.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook
- A flexible schedule which includes working some evenings and weekends
- Ability to lift 40 lbs.
