Full Job Description
- Lead the identification, evaluation, and negotiation of transactable community solar and distributed energy projects annually (20 MW for Managers, 50 MW for Directors) that align with NSE’s investment criteria throughout the US.
- Relationship Management: Cultivate and manage relationships with solar developers, consultants, and EPC partners to source acquisition opportunities within NSE’s target markets.
- Deal Structuring and Due Diligence: Collaborate closely with NSE’s Structuring, Legal, Capital Markets, and Construction teams on acquisition and development opportunities. Develop overall acquisition/development strategies, handle project pricing, deal structuring, and due diligence for target project acquisitions.
- Financial modeling: Manage project inputs from development partners. Ensure that projects are modeled accurately to optimize the value of the project and meet NSE investment criteria. Understand the financial model and all underlying assumptions and inputs.
- Market analysis: Analyze community solar market trends, policies, incentives, and regulatory frameworks to identify market opportunities and potential risks. Serve as a market lead for NSE on industry policy groups as needed.
- Prepare internal and external presentations for project stakeholders, including investment committee memos, market summaries, and other reports.
- Stay updated on industry developments: Stay abreast of industry trends, changes, and market dynamics related to community solar to provide valuable insights and recommendations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work closely with engineering, finance, legal, and construction teams on project acquisition proposals.
- Represent NSE at several conferences each year and attend team and company offsites. Speak at industry conferences to help promote NSE’s acquisition efforts.
Requirements
- 3 - 5 years (Manager) or 5-8 years (Director) of relevant M&A solar experience, preferably in the community solar industry.
- Demonstrated track record of being a key team member involved in the acquisition and negotiation of MW scale solar project acquisitions.
- Familiarity with terms and conditions and structuring of major solar project documentation including MIPAs, leases, interconnections, utility program requirements, PPA offtake or subscription agreements, etc.
- Strong understanding of community solar policies and programs.
- Existing relationships with solar developers and EPC partners preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the abiliy to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Excellent organizational abilities; able to focus on details while managing multiple projects.
- Able to excel in a highly entrepreneurial environment.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to navigate a financial model in Excel.
- Comfortable working in a remote environment.
- Unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S.
