Full Job Description
CS Energy is hiring a Payroll Specialist to process, review and support managing the company’s payroll. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.
This is regular-part-time role; the Payroll Specialist will work approximately 25 hrs./week. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a dynamic accounting department within a growing organization in the renewable energy sector.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs payroll administration
- Collects, reviews and processes time sheets
- Maintains and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and distributed certified reports of payroll transactions for all employees including union and non-union
- Supports preparation and review of monthly union remittance reports
- Process and review monthly per-diems
- Process and review weekly Foreman Reports
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage and hour laws and best practices.
- Assist with audits by providing records and documentation to auditors
- Oversee the day-to-day work of the Payroll Specialist
- Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures to Payroll Manager
- Supports in distribution and processing of W-2s
- Perform other duties and assist with other special projects within the Accounting Department
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required
- 3+ years of experience in a payroll function with extensive knowledge and mastery of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to oversee others
- Basic understanding of construction cost tracking system; experience in construction payroll (union and non-union) is highly desired
- Firm understanding of prevailing wage
- Working knowledge and proficiency in payroll process systems
- Previous experience using ADP Workforce Now
- High degree of confidentiality, diplomacy, and ethics
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail
- Solid time management skills with the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills a must
