Full Job Description
Summary: Recruit, enroll, and maintain registration for the student population. Assist families in accessing high-quality health, mental health, nutrition, parental engagement, and social services for their children and families. Build partnerships with families to assist them in identifying their own goals, strengths, needed services, and support systems, and develop strategies and timetables for achieving their goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (This list is not exhaustive; additional duties will be reviewed during orientation)
- Establish and maintain an outreach and recruitment process, ensuring the enrollment of eligible children, the completion of intakes, and the preparation of eligible families for entrance into the program; maintain an active waitlist.
- Assist families with transitioning into and out of the program, including planning and facilitating orientation sessions for families, providing information on program policies and services, child abuse, confidentiality, legal rights, and resources for families of children with special needs.
- Maintain student attendance records; document and follow up with any families experiencing attendance issues; implement improvement protocols as needed.
- Encourage, monitor, and record the timely delivery of medical and dental services to program participants.
- Assist families in accessing community resources, including medical, dental, social, educational, and occupational services, and applying for and maintaining childcare subsidies.
- Actively engage families using the Head Start Parent, Family, and Community Engagement (PFCE) Framework strategies.
- Conduct three (3) visits per family per program year and document results.
- Work some non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, as assigned.
Requirements
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: The successful candidate will possess the following:
- A minimum of a high school; AND
- Family Development Credential; AND
- A minimum of two years of experience in a field related to family or social services.
- A minimum of two years of experience in a publicly funded preschool program is preferred.
The qualified candidate must demonstrate/articulate:
- Intermediate or advanced proficiency in various office suite software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including effectively communicating electronically.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary family service.
- Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to team goals and tasks.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with people of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds.
Ability to speak, read, and write academically in English and another language (Spanish, Yoruba, Igbo, or Twi) is preferred.
