Full Job Description
Clinton Hill Community & Early Childhood Center is seeking a passionate Preschool Teacher to join our dedicated team. As a preschool teacher, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young children and help shape their early childhood education experience. We are looking for an energetic and creative individual who is committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for our students. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of early childhood development and a passion for teaching and guiding young children.
Responsibilities
- Plan and maintain a well-organized, safe, clean, learning environment conducive to the optimal growth and development of children and assure the well-being and safety of the children in his/her care.
- Observe and document each child’s learning and development; maintain current (no less than weekly) documentation in electronic student portfolio.
- Review the progress of each child and develop weekly written lesson plans to promote each child’s growth and development.
- Fully implement curriculum and Preschool Program standards in accordance with the policies and procedures, regulations and guidelines set forth, including developmentally appropriate practices for a preschool program.
- Supervise and provide guidance to all volunteers and unpaid interns.
- Maintain a cooperative attitude of working together with the teacher assistant, volunteers, parents, and program specialists in planning and implementing activities.
- Maintain discipline and supervision of children during all activities, as defined in the Discipline and Active Supervision Policy.
- Implement Positive Behavior Support strategies and behavior plans.
- Observe children daily to detect signs of illness, injury, emotional disturbance, learning disorder, speech problem, or other special needs.
- Ensure daily attendance records are maintained and accurately reported to the office at the end of the month.
- Complete quarterly assessment checkpoints and conduct family conferences to discuss children’s developmental progress, needs, and interests.
- Ensure full implementation of Individual Education Plans and/or behavior support plans.
- Collaborate with program staff to promote and participate in family engagement activities.
- Safeguard all classroom supplies and equipment.
- Participate in staff meetings, center activities, and staff training as required.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
- NJ Preschool–Grade 3 Standard (or CE, CEAS, TE) Certificate
- Prior experience working with preschool-aged children, including children with disabilities
- Strong understanding of early childhood development
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to create engaging and lesson plans and activities with strong academic rigor
- Patience, compassion, and a love for working with young children
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Knowledge of relevant educational technology and tools
