Full Job Description
The Safety and Training Manager oversees all DOT and Health and Safety training compliance for Federal and State Transportation for Dedicated Services, Leasing Technician training to CDL and Leasing/ Rental Drivers. The Safety and Training Manager will also be responsible for ensuring safety standards for all Company assets are maintained.

Requirements
You Will:
- Must have extensive knowledge of diverse types of Class A and B and non-CDL vehicles.
- Must have extensive knowledge of DOT Hours of Service Regulations – Able to set up and train drivers in electronic logging (e-logs) and manual logging.
- Able to communicate and train on Miller specific requirements and equipment (i.e. Geotab, Samsara)
- Coach and counsel drivers to ensure continued improvement and compliance with DOT regulations and to ensure all log violations are documented with corrective action in place to avoid future issues.
- Perform retraining for drivers who have had incidents or accidents in the performance of their duties.
- Conduct new employee orientation, safety meetings with drivers and safety meetings, as needed, with leasing employees.
- Assist in incident investigations, root-cause analysis, follow-up, and closure of action items, and leverage learning across organization for all vehicle accidents involving Company personnel and/or equipment.
- Work with Miller Personnel to implement and manage detailed, proactive systems to ensure compliance with Federal and State DOT Trucking regulations and Company requirements, with a strong emphasis on a Management Systems approach to safety and compliance.
- Seek out industry best practices and more effective and efficient methods to achieve Operational Excellence in Incident Prevention and DOT Trucking Compliance.
- Lead and oversee all aspects of development, implementation, standardization (where appropriate), and management of the Company’s Health and Safety Compliance and Risk Management Programs.
- Work with Operations Personnel to implement and manage a proactive, behavior-based approach to Health and Safety, with a strong emphasis on Personal Responsibility, Incident Prevention, and a Management Systems approach to compliance.
- Seek out industry best practices and more effective and efficient methods to achieve Operational Excellence in Incident Prevention, Health and Safety Compliance, and Risk Management.
- Assist Operations staff regarding health and safety technical guidance, plan/procedure development and implementation, incident notification/response, and other routine compliance issues and requests.
You Have:
- Minimum of 5 years direct experience directing DOT, Health and Safety Trucking regulatory compliance and risk management programs, including the demonstrated knowledge of U.S. DOT’s Drug and Alcohol Programs.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to appropriately target communication to intended audience, ranging from leading Training Presentations for Operations and Management to interactions and meetings with drivers and maintenance techs.
- Proficient with technology and production software (e.g., MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Holds Class A or B CDL
- Maintain valid DOT Medical Card
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to safely walk up stairs, move in/out of trucks, and work outdoors in all weather conditions as needed.
- Will work at customer locations, on the dock, in outdoor environments, in trucks and trailers, company shops, etc.
- May be required to lift objects up to 50 lbs.
- Primary location in Lumberton, NJ but will be required to travel as needed to other company and customer facilities.
