Clinton Hill Community & Early Childhood Center is seeking a dynamic and engaging Staff Accountant to join our finance team. As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for a wide range of accounting duties to support the financial operations of our organization. You will work closely with the Controller and other members of the finance team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
- Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes
- Conduct bank and account reconciliations
- Assist with budget preparation and variance analysis
- Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules
- Assist with grant financial reporting and compliance
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
- Assist with payroll processing and related tasks
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles and company policies
- Provide support for audits and other financial reviews
- Collaborate with other departments to address financial matters and provide financial guidance and support
- Stay up-to-date on industry advancements and changes in accounting regulations
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounting or finance
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Intermediate proficiency in advanced accounting software (Microsoft Dynamics, Net Suite, MIP) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities
- Experience with nonprofit accounting and grants management is a plus
- Knowledge of federal grants management preferred
