Full Job Description
AAC has a requirement to provide Configuration Management Engineering support for Salado Isolation Mining Contractors (SIMCO). SIMCO manages and operates the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP), a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) facility. The WIPP is an engineered repository, designed to permanently dispose waste contaminated with trace amounts of radioactive transuranic elements from research and production of nuclear weapons in the U.S. DOE defense program(s).
The Configuration Management Engineer’s duties encompass the following:
- Performs systems engineering processes for establishing and maintaining consistency of engineering procedures and design documents as they relate to the performance, functionality, and physical attributes of site structures, systems, and components (SSCs) throughout the SSCs life cycle per the site’s specific Configuration Management Plan.
- Maintains the master equipment list (MEL).
- Ensures procedural adherence to the Commercial Grade Item/Service Dedication Process and the Management Level Determination Process.
- Processes Engineering Service Requests and Periodic Maintenance Identification Forms.
- Coordinates with following site-specific organizations:
- Work Control
- Operations
- Maintenance
- Regulatory
- Environmental
- Safety & Health
- Procurement
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 2-5 years of experience in configuration management, systems engineering, or a related field
- Experience with Configuration Management and version control tools
- Knowledge of the Systems Engineering Lifecycle and experience with DOE or other Government acquisition lifecycles
- US citizenship, with the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
- Strong communication skills, and proficiency with common desktop productivity tools including MS Office
- An ability to work both in a team or independently as required
Desired Skills:
- 6+ years of prior related work experience
- Proficiency in scripting languages
- Experience in release management and documenting configurations
- Familiarity with requirements management tools such as IBM Rational DOORS Next Generation
- Program/Project Management experience
