We are a leading, national consulting firm that provides compassionate, full-spectrum emergency management services including planning and preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation services to the public and private sectors before, during and after a natural disaster or catastrophic event.

These positions are expected to be onsite in Santa Fe, NM for one (1) year, with a target deployment of May - June 2024 estimated. Successful candidates will not have their resume already submitted with another firm for this work.
Position Summary:

Mission of Role/Position Summary:
To provide technical assistance in support of the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Claims Office (Claims Office), by receiving, evaluating, and processing claims for compensatory damages for injuries from the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Fire.
Successful candidates will provide high quality services, and exceptional customer service, while adhering to budget and schedule constraints. They will ensure the expeditious resolution of claims through a process that is administered with sensitivity to the burdens placed upon claimants impacted by the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Fire and resulting losses as further defined by Congress.
Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:

- Provide technical assistance and expertise in support of the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Claims Office (Claims Office), by receiving, evaluating, and processing claims for compensatory damages for injuries from the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Fire.
- Work with local, state and federal officials to identify eligible response, recovery and mitigation activities.
- Advise clients on FEMA PA policy and documentation requirements.
- Prepare project damage descriptions, scope of work and supporting documentation.
- Manage simultaneous development of multiple Project Worksheets.
- Conduct site assessments in the field and prepare project documentation and cost estimates.
- Review and validate contracts, contractor invoices, payroll and other financial records.
- Provide policy guidance expertise for FEMA PA or other grant programs.
- Organize and maintain project records and reports.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Should have thorough knowledge of Public Assistance eligibility, law, regulations, and policies, and familiarity with other FEMA Programs (e.g., Individual Assistance, Hermit’s Peak Program, etc.).
Supervisory Responsibilities:
May have lead level responsibilities within projects or small teams depending on function with senior level support.
Expected Hours of Work:
Schedule may vary. Work on evenings and weekends may be required. Dependability and punctuality are paramount.
Travel Requirements:
- Work onsite in Santa Fe, NM is expected for this position.
- Must be willing to travel and deploy to client sites for extended periods of time.
Physical Demands:
- Mobility required on-site with clients.
- Sitting or standing for hours at a time.
- Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time if needed.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. repetitively throughout the day and as needed.
Working Environment:
- Emergency management professionals may work in an office or home environment or be deployed to the field which may require working outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
- Work may be on-site with clients ex: EOC, hospital, debris sites or local government buildings.
- All AC Disaster Consulting (ACDC) positions are remote work site positions with the home location agreed upon at time of hire.
- If the remote work site locations change, ACDC Human Resources must be made aware, and leadership needs to approve any site changes for business registration and payroll tax purposes.
Requirements
Experience/Education Required:
- Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience in a related field, or 10 years of experience in a related field without a Bachelor's degree for Mid-level roles.
- Thorough knowledge of PA eligibility, law, regulations, and policies, and familiarity with other FEMA Programs (e.g., Individual Assistance, Hermit’s Peak Program, etc.).
- Policy Interpretation: ability to understand complex insurance policy language, including exclusions, endorsements, and coverage limits;
- Damage Assessment: Proficient in assessing property, flooding, and/or fire-related damage accurately, which involves understanding the extent of damage, the required repairs, required documentation, and the associated costs;
- Clear and Effective Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills and knowledge and ability to explain policy and regulations to claimants, FEMA Navigators, and other stakeholders;
- Use of Technology: Proficiency in using claims management software, databases, and other technology tools that facilitate claim processing, documentation, and communication.
- Experience utilizing Xactimate.
Experience/Education Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree and 10 years of experience in a related field, or 15 years of experience in a related field without a Bachelor's degree.
- Active and current FEMA badge.
- Local resident to Santa Fe, NM.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Additional Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must pass company and any applicable client background check and reference check upon offer of employment.
- Eligibility to work in the United States is required.
