Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. is hiring a part-time, temporary Engineer I or Technical Consultant I in Carlsbad, NM.
(Estimated 800 hours over a 10 month period.)

This position will review in-process drawings and complete 2-D and 3-D engineering drawings of PDP components as well as provide hands-on assembly needed for fabrication of box and drum PDP components (matrix modules). (Majority of hours needed are for build of matrix modules.)

Please note that the use of computer aided drafting (CAD) software is required. The original files have already been started using Autodesk Inventor Professional. Autodesk Inventor or compatible software (SolidWorks) and a design engineer or engineering technician experienced with engineering drawings, fabrication and assembly are required to complete the project.

Using procured fabricated parts, the Engineer/Technical Consultant will assist the NDA PDP Coordinator and PDP Manager with the hands-on assembly of matrix modules

  • The PDP requires two complete sets of combustibles and two complete sets of metals matrix modules

Assist the NDA PDP Coordinator and PDP Manager with the preparation of the as-built documentation

Requirements

(Position can be remote with travel.) Needs to be within driving distance of Ogden Utah and Idaho Falls.

Autodesk Inventor or compatible software (SolidWorks) and a design engineer or engineering technician experienced with engineering drawings, fabrication and assembly are required to complete the project.

Demonstrated competency in preparing engineering drawings, 3D models, demonstrated understanding of dimension and tolerance, and previous experience with engineering drawings for fabrication of parts.

Fabrication and assembly experience.

Familiarity with fabrication of PDP-like components.

Technical Consultant I:
Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of study with 15 years of experience OR a master’s degree in an applicable field of study with 10 years of experience, or a Ph.D. in a related discipline with five years of experience (as approved by the Contracting Officer).

Engineer - I

Requires: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field with five years of related experience in engineering. Recognized certification in designated discipline; DOE environmental cleanup experience such as operations, facility design, D&D, D&R, S&M, Infrastructure, operations oversight and experience with modifications and repairs of facilities; experience in performing calculations and analyses of design components, equipment operations or corrective actions; and experience in work planning and scheduling, use of heavy construction equipment.
