A Director of Event Production and Venues is responsible for overseeing the budgeting, run of show, coordination, and execution of events at various venues. This role requires a combination of leadership, strategic planning, and hands-on management skills.
Job Summary:
The Director of Event Production & Venues will lead the event production team and oversee all aspects of venue management to ensure the successful execution of events, from conception to post- production. This role requires collaborating with clients, vendors, and internal departments to deliver outstanding event experiences while optimizing operational efficiency and maximizing venue profitability.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end planning and production of events including art shows, corporate functions, concerts, conferences, weddings, and other special events.
- Create and own event timelines, budgets and production schedules. Clearly communicate changes and new information to the team.
- Work closely with clients to understand their vision and translate it into a seamless event experience.
- Ensure compliance with all legal, health, safety, and venue-specific regulations during event planning and execution.
- Oversee the daily operations of event venues, ensuring they are maintained and prepared for each event.
- Manage relationships with venue staff, third-party vendors, and contractors (e.g., audiovisual companies, catering services, security personnel).
- Coordinate venue logistics including layout design, seating arrangements, technical setups (sound, lighting), and crowd control.
- Hire, train, and manage event production and venue operations staff. Create and maintain standard operating practices.
- Provide mentorship and development opportunities to ensure a high-performing team.
- Foster collaboration among the sales, facilities, and operations teams to align with event goals.
- Create and manage budgets for event production and venue operations.
- Negotiate contracts with clients, vendors, and suppliers to optimize costs while maintaining quality.
- Track and report on financial performance, identifying opportunities for revenue growth and cost savings.
- Serve as the primary point of contact on event day for production based event needs. Address concerns and ensuring satisfaction throughout the event process.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including venue owners, corporate clients, and community partners.
- Lead post-event evaluations and implement feedback for continuous improvement.
- Develop and execute programs to increase event bookings and maximize venue utilization.
- Analyze market trends and competition to stay ahead of industry developments and client needs.
- Leverage the latest event technology (e.g., ticketing software, audiovisual solutions, virtual event platforms) to enhance event experiences.
- Ensure that the venue is equipped with the necessary technical infrastructure and equipment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in event production, venue management, or hospitality, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure.
- Financial acumen and budgeting experience.
- Proficiency in event management software and other relevant technology platforms.

The base pay range for this position is a salary range of $115,000 - 130,000 per year. The determination of what a specific employee in this job classification is paid within the range depends on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, prior employment history/job-related knowledge, qualifications and skills, etc.
