Program Details:
- Located in Bushwick, Brooklyn
- 12-month schedule with federal holidays off and vacation/sick leave
- Head Start & DOE 3k and Pre-K For All classrooms
- Classroom Teams composed of Full-Time Group Teacher, Full-Time Assistant Teacher, and Part-Time Teacher Aide
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain a nurturing and engaging educational environment for all children
- Recognize children’s individual needs while preparing them for a successful transition into school-age programs
- Conduct developmental assessments (ASQs) of children in partnership with their families
- Maintain proper coverage and implementation of LIFE (Labor and Industry for Education) and DOE guidelines
- Ensure cleanliness, sanitizing practices, and all health protocols are in accordance with the center guidelines
- Research and offer innovative skills and tools to enhance your quality of teaching in the center
- Create lesson plans and submit to the director for review
- Assist in developing and implementing individual educational plans for children with special needs
- Assess and refer children with special needs to the director for further evaluation and potential services
- Enter data in Teaching Strategies Gold checkpoints 3x per year to track children’s learning and inform future teaching practices
- Attend monthly training for teachers on up-to-date deliverables
- Understand and follow Article 47 of DOHMH (Department of Health and Mental Hygiene) and always ensure the health and safety of children.
Requirements
- Must possess excellent instructional and speaking skills and be able to convey important information effectively
- Must be an active listener
- Must be able to lift, carry, bend, and stand for extended periods
- Must be able to manage one’s own time and the time of the children
- Must work well with others in a respectful, professional, collaborative manner
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 2 or more years of experience in early childhood or special Education
