We are looking for an Evening Histology Technician with extensive experience in research specimens to join the team in a full-time or per diem capacity. Under the general direction and supervision of the Laboratory Manager, the Evening Histology Technician will apply a working knowledge of Histotechnician-related duties and tasks to complete the daily assigned Histology workload.The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex problems, has excellent communication skills, team building experience, and thrives in a fast-paced setting that is constantly evolving. They should be a self-starter with demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically about business and technical challenges. Main duties
- Perform routine and special histological procedures involving specimen accessioning, grossing, processing, embedding, sectioning, staining (routine and special)
- Follow strict SOP and complete required job-related training as necessary
- Evaluate, modify, or develop procedures to meet special requirements of particular research studies
- Maintain accurate records of all specimens
- Documentation of all work progress in our Laboratory Information Systems
- Design and recommend processes, systems, and operational changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or a related subject plus at least two years of professional technical experience in a histology laboratory
- Certification as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) is desirable but not required
- Professional experience in preclinical research setting preferred
- Flexible work schedule and the ability to work a late / weekend shift preferred
- Must be detail-oriented, careful, and have high integrity and discipline
- Excellent communication skills and work well in a team environment
