Full Job Description
A Fire Life Safety Director (FLSD) is a critical position responsible for ensuring the safety and security of occupants within a building, particularly in the event of fire or other emergencies.
· Performs reception and welcoming duties for building guests and tenants
· Is knowledgeable of all services and facilities provided
· Ensure the security, safety and well-being of all personnel, visitors and the premises
· Provide excellent customer service
· Tracks and responds to guest requests using our cloud-based internal system
· Perform a variety of fire and life-safety-related functions as it pertains to New York state law
· Conduct fire drills, evacuations, and related activities such as organizing, training, and supervising a fire brigade
· Implement the building's Fire Safety Plan in the event of an emergency
· Acting as a liaison between building personnel and the NYPD in the event of an emergency
· Directing the evacuation of occupants as provided for in the fire safety EAP plan
· Assisting all emergency service personnel entering the building on official business and reporting details to the Property Manager, Site Supervisor, and all relevant personnel in the chain of command
· Supervising FS/EAP Wardens, Deputy FS/EAP Warden, and building evacuation supervisors
· Maintaining records and logs as required by the New York City Fire Code
· Conducting, supervising, and evaluating fire and emergency drills
· Demonstrate the ability to make clear and audible public address announcements
Requirements
· FDNY F-89 or F85 or Z89 (Required)
· A valid NYS Security License – (desirable by not essential)
· Experience in front desk position or comparable customer service role preferred
· Must be willing to take on-site exam for FLSD certification and train others on safety procedures
· Must speak and write fluently in English
· Clear communication skills
· Must have a friendly, upbeat and positive demeanor
· Must enjoy working with the public
· Experience in Fire Drills and Security Patrols
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Capable of giving and following complex instructions
· Strong interpersonal skills
· Knowledge of security operations and procedures
· High School diploma/GED recommended
· Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays
· Comfortable learning and working with cloud-based tenant management software
