LaBella is looking for the right person to lead the interior design aspect of the K-12 market projects and project teams. The lead position is expected to be an authority or expert in the fields if interior design with a specialty in K-12 learning environments.
Responsibilities
- Educational design is a large part of LaBella’s business and leaders are expected to work with clients to discuss goals and objectives and provide creative and innovative design solutions. We pride ourselves with working with them and delivering projects that result in long relationship spanning multiple projects. The lead position is expected to be an authority or expert in the fields if interior design with a specialty in learning environments.
- Lead designers are responsible for not only creative and innovative design solutions but also the proficiency and efficiency of the interior design team members. Understanding and creating fee and project budgets and performing project management tasks are sometimes required and expected to be performed with little assistance. Projects are expected to be delivered within budgets outlined as well as meet client expectations.
- Participation in marketing and business development efforts from production of visual, written proposals, and participation in interviews are required.
- The ability to produce conceptual, technical, and constructable drawings, specifications, and documentation is required and the ability to direct others in these tasks are expected to be performed with little assistance.
- This position is one of teaching and mentoring to aid in junior staff professional development. Delegation and communication are expected to be clear, concise, and performed with little assistance. Leaders can manage and direct project teams, communicate and delegate tasks effectively, and contribute to staff reviews and professional development goals.
- Collaboration is expected not only within interior design teams and clients but also at every level, including but not limited to, project architects, project managers, marketing team members, building engineers, subconsultants, vendors, and design partners. Communication, both verbal and written, are expected to be frequent, concise, and effective and performed with little assistance.
- As part of the leadership for the interior design discipline, participating in staffing and work planning efforts is required regularly.
- Occasionally, travel will be required.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design from a 4 – year CIDA accredited interior design program.
- Have a minimum of 10+ years of experience in commercial interiors with a concentration in educational environments both K-12 and/or Higher Education.
- NCIDQ Certification.
- State Certification or Registration.
- Other certifications such as ALEP, WBI, and LEED AP certifications are not required but are a plus.
Skills and Abilities
- Advanced proficiency in Revit, Sketch Up and Adobe Creative Suite and experience with AutoCAD.
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills – excellent presentation and people skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively.
- Possess well-developed visualization skills and be able to convey intent of ideas easily and quickly, both verbally and visually.
- Work quickly, effectively, efficiently and within project timelines.
- Enjoy working in a team setting and be excited to share knowledge and idea with others, and to help others to improve their own skills and expertise.
- Proven experience in designing interiors for K-12 learning environments projects.
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- Prior experience as interior designer for components of projects with a demonstrated technical and organizational proficiency.
Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000
The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.
