The Technical Director will work closely with the Music & Culture Department to execute the musical and creative vision for all the venues by supporting the initiatives outlined by the Music + Culture Director and with the Events Department to provide all AV needs for clients. The Technical Director will be responsible for overseeing and managing all technical aspects of our live events, concerts, and nightlife experiences. They will schedule and handle all logistics and budgets for the production team to ensure seamless execution and delivery of AV requirements.
The Technical Director will maintain communication between the Music + Culture Department, Events Department, Operations Department and clients. They will interface with the production teams of artists and clients, and disseminate all necessary information to the in-house Tech/Production teams.
The Techincal Director should have a passion for music, culture and organization. They must have a working knowledge of nightlife, live music, performance art, dance culture, fashion and culture. The role requires the highest level of organization, strong attention to detail, keen awareness of music trends, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion. The Coordinator should be a forward-thinking self-starter who takes initiative, is proactive, has a desire to get into the music and hospitality industry, is a team player, and understands the value of a high performance organization.

- Manage a technical team (sound engineers, stagehands, lighting designers), as well as recruiting, training, and on-site supervision
- Provide direction and leadership to AV technicians during live events, concerts, and nightlife
- Scheduling techs and budgeting for all events and internal programming activations
- Coordinate with the production team to understand technical requirements and ensure proper setup and operation of sound systems, lighting, video, and other AV equipment.
- Conduct pre-event checks and equipment tests to ensure everything is functioning properly.
- Manage and troubleshoot technical issues that arise during events, ensuring quick and effective resolutions to minimize disruptions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to source high-quality AV equipment and services.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements to continually enhance the guest experience.
- Collaborate with event planners, performers, and other stakeholders to understand their technical needs and preferences.
- Insure artists have all necessary information for their shows/DJ sets, including at PH
- Advancing artist riders and communications with artist teams, communicating all tech needs to AV/Tech and Operations team
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards related to AV equipment and installations.
- Maintaining the storage of all AV equipment in respective AV closets at each property
- Gear Maintenance, Repairs, On-Call Service : DJ equipment, all cables and speakers installed in venues, all portable speakers, speaker stands, mics, mic stands, drums, lighting equipment, projector and projector screens
- Working with the Facilities department and outside vendors to maintain music, light and sound quality and speaker integrity throughout properties
- Develop event production sales packages with corresponding SOPs andP&L sheets
- Attend all Music + Culture activations, assist Music + Culture, AV/Tech and Operations team to make sure artists, staff and guests have the best experience.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in live events, concerts, and nightlife, with a focus on technical production.
- Proven experience managing sound technicians and AV technicians in fast-paced environments.
- Proficiency with audio mixing consoles, lighting consoles, video switchers, and other AV equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues under pressure.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with the capacity to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate event schedules.
- Passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences and creating memorable moments.
- Proven knowledge of music and entertainment environment
- Excellent admin skills (Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Monday.com)
- Experience in event planning and execution
- Strong knowledge of various music genres and a keen understanding of their audiences
- Excellent administration and communication skills
- Creativity and an ability to think outside the box
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
