Position Summary
Capital Impact, seeing the need to offer pathways for real estate developers to grow and succeed to vision and deliver impactful housing and other developments, created the Equitable Development Initiative (EDI). The EDI is a multifaceted program aligning education, networking and access to capital for these growing developers seeking to hone their expertise as builders and business owners. Capital Impact began the EDI in Detroit and expanded it to the greater Washington DC region, San Francisco Bay area, Cleveland, and Dallas. We also launched a similar program in Austin for small scale developers.
Capital Impact seeks highly organized and self-motivated interns to support the National Programs team, and in particular the National Training Manager, to serve in various capacities in our highly collaborative environment and mission focused team, supporting the launch of new training programs for real estate developers, as well as programming to support small businesses. The ideal candidates are committed to our mission of building inclusive and equitable communities by providing people access to the capital and opportunities they deserve.
Internships will be for 3 months and will be 40 hours a week.
Essential Responsibilities
The Intern will work with the National Training Manager and National Programs Team to support the planning, design and implementation of curricula, facilitation, and material content for upcoming program learning sessions, while collaborating with additional teams, including Business Advisory Services, Commercial Real Estate, and other Momentus teams as they occur. The Intern will:
● Assist in managing courses and correspondence via learner management system (Moodle).
● Support ongoing facilitation of capacity building/training programs.
● Assist in development and implementation of new capacity building/training programs.
● Collaborate on creation of presentations and other documentation for curriculum and training development.
● Play a significant role in development of new business training courses.
● Help create a new course development instructional manual.
Requirements
● Required:
o Strong interest in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
o Strong operational and execution skills (planning, problem solving etc.).
o Demonstrated capacity for independent judgment and sound decision making in a diverse and complex organizational environment.
o Strong written and oral communication skills (e.g., presentations, periodic reports).
o Proficient in Microsoft programs (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google suite (e.g., Google Docs, Sheets) is required.
o Experience with learner management systems (as either student or instructor).
o Interest in community development.
● Nice to have:
o Experience in business courses (as either student or instructor)
o Experience in real estate courses (as either student or instructor)
Benefits
The salary range for this position is $18-$20, depending on education.
This role is hybrid, but the ideal candidate must be located in the New York City/ Manhattan area. Frequency of office presence will be discussed with the supervisor, but the position will be mostly remote.
