Who we are looking for…
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our team at The Family Counseling Center. The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive range of mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) services in a community-based outpatient setting. Our services cater to children, adolescents, and adults, focusing on promoting optimal mental health, harm reduction, prevention, and treatment of psychiatric disorders, including medication management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver a full spectrum of mental health and SUD services within your licensed scope of practice, under the supervision and collaboration of the Medical Director and Clinic Leadership Team.
- Participate in the administration of various therapeutic and training programs.
- Monitor client services to ensure they meet the needs of clients and are provided in accordance with best care practices, industry standards, organization guidelines, legal requirements, and federal law.
- Exhibit professional expertise in providing, managing, and overseeing mental health and SUD services.
- Foster a positive, professional and encouraging environment for both team members and clients.
- Uphold and support the mission of The Family Counseling Center with integrity and strong ethical standards.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $140,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
Standard shift:
- Day shift
Weekly schedule:
- 4x10
- 5x8
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends

Requirements
Required Education and Experience:
- Current and valid New York State license as a Nurse Practitioner with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMHNP).
- Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a PMHNP.
- Must have prescriptive authority in the State of New York and a valid DEA license
- 2+ years as a PMHNP with experience in mental health and substance use disorder treatment, preferably in an outpatient setting.
- Credentialed with Medicare and Medicaid a plus

- Strong clinical skills in psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, and psychopharmacology.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Commitment to providing high-quality, trauma informed, person-centered care.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain high degree of professionalism, confidentiality
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced and collaborative environment
- Extensive knowledge of ethics, confidentiality and child welfare is required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google and familiar with electronic health records
- Willingness to learn and follow clinic’s standards of practice
- Demonstrable ability to connect with and provide services to a diverse client population
- Ability to successfully pass OCFS background screening, criminal history verification and the Medicaid Exclusion Screening
License/Certification:
- NYS Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner License (Required)
- DEA Certification (Required)
- Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a PMHNP (Required)
- 2+ years as a PMHNP with experience in mental health and substance use disorder treatment, preferably in an outpatient setting. (Required)
