We are looking for an experienced Grocery Manager who will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the grocery department in our SoHo Store. You will play a critical role in ensuring that the grocery department operates efficiently and delivers exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for monitoring inventory levels and ensuring that shelves are adequately stocked. Must anticipate customer demand and work closely with suppliers to replenish stock in a timely manner.
- Responsible for placing orders for groceries, including perishable and non-perishable items, and coordinating the receiving and storing of merchandise, must ensure accurate record-keeping and adherence to food safety regulations.
- Oversee a team of grocery department associates, assigning tasks, providing training, and ensuring that all employees are following established procedures and guidelines. They are responsible for addressing any performance or disciplinary issues and promoting a positive work environment.
- Ensure excellent customer service. They should be visible and accessible to customers, addressing inquiries, resolving complaints, and ensuring that customers have a positive shopping experience.
- Responsible for ensuring that grocery displays are attractive, well-stocked, and properly signed. They must implement effective merchandising strategies to increase sales, promote new products, and maximize profitability.
- Work closely with the store management team to develop pricing strategies and implement promotional campaigns.
- Stay up to update on market trends, competitor pricing, and customer preferences to make informed decisions and drive sales.
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations, ensuring that proper storage, handling, and disposal procedures are followed. They should regularly inspect the grocery department for cleanliness and report any maintenance issues.
- The Grocery Manager is responsible for monitoring sales, tracking expenses, and managing the department's budget. They should analyze financial reports and implement cost-saving measures to achieve profitability goals.
Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years Previous experience in the grocery industry
- Minimum 3-5 years Supervisory or management experience
- Knowledge of grocery store operations: A good understanding of grocery store operations and procedures is essential, including inventory management, stock control, pricing, merchandising, and food safety regulations.
- Customer service skills: Excellent customer service skills are important as the Grocery Manager will interact with customers, address their inquiries or complaints, and ensure exceptional service to maintain customer satisfaction.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities: The Grocery Manager must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize work effectively, and ensure smooth operation of daily tasks.
- Communication skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary to effectively communicate with employees, vendors, and customers.
- Financial management skills: Basic knowledge of budgeting, financial reporting, and profitability analysis is often required for this position, as the Grocery Manager typically has some financial responsibilities, such as controlling costs and maximizing profitability.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment: The grocery industry can be fast-paced, particularly during peak times or special events. The Grocery Manager should have the ability to work under pressure and ensure efficient store operations.
