As the Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the procurement process and ensuring the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of materials and supplies. This is a key role within our organization, requiring strong negotiation skills and expertise in supply chain management.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement management policies and procedures to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize stockouts.
- Lead and execute purchasing strategies.
- Coordinate with scheduler, warehouse, and sales team to monitor inventory levels and plan for future inventory needs based on sales forecasting, seasonality, and market trends.
- Use QuickBooks to manage and track inventory levels, orders, and reorder points efficiently.
- Analyze historical purchase and inventory data to forecast needs and improve purchasing strategies.
- Implement and manage inventory auditing procedures to ensure accuracy in stock levels and records.
- Collaborate with sales and production departments to understand demand forecasts and adjust inventory management strategies accordingly.
- Responsible for following all Food Safety Compliance, and record keeper of all compliance documentation.
- Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms.
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation.
- Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power.
- Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking.
- Assess, manage, and mitigate risks.
- Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers.
- Determine quantity and timing of deliveries.
- Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand.
Requirements
Experience:
- Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager or in a similar procurement role
- Strong negotiation skills with a track record of achieving favorable terms and pricing
- Proficiency in using ERP systems (such as Oracle EBS or AS400) for procurement activities
- Knowledge of MRP (Materials Requirements Planning) systems is preferred
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers
