General Job Description:
In this position, the Quality Engineer works as a direct liaison between Manufacturing, Engineering and Quality to ensure the shop floor is effective in producing quality product for our customers. It is the responsibility of the Quality Engineer to implement measurement control processes, sampling systems, procedures and statistical techniques with the operators and technicians. Throughout this process, the Quality Engineer performs the necessary shop training to ensure compliance with all quality standards and requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with formal technical writing education as an asset
- Have a team player attitude that promotes commitment, reliability and follow through
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
- Have the ability to prioritize workload to meet deliveries with multiple work assignment challenges
- Proven record of strong leadership and motivational skills coupled with sound decision making capabilities
- Ability to resolve problems using logical, systematic and sequential approaches
- Good computer skills with a proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other statistical software such as Mini-Tab
- Ability to read and understand blueprints at an advanced level
- Solid understanding and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, ASME Y14.5M
- Experience with and knowledge of ISO / TS requirements
- Three years or more of manufacturing / sheet metal / welding fabrication knowledge preferred
- Five years or more of experience as a Quality Technician in a manufacturing business environment preferred
- Skillful in operating a CMM and writing measurement programs in compliance with print specifications
Departmental Specific Duties:
- Review all new project release packages in verification that customers specifications are achievable
- Implement inspection plans for all new projects and update existing projects as necessary
- Conduct training with shop personnel on new projects and resolve any quality related questions
- Provide feedback to Engineering with any process changes
- Protect the company’s interests by learning our customers specifications and act as a resource for others
- Ensure adherence to Company Quality procedures, documenting exceptions to Manufacturing and Quality management
Measurement Tools:
- Developing inspection processes that produce both the quality and economic results quoted
- Meeting promised due dates on all customer proposal requests
- Continuous improvement with implementation and development of advanced technology for manufacturing
- Have a “team player” attitude that promotes commitment, reliability and follow through
