Full Job Description
Hi! We’re Looking Glass — a company based out of Brooklyn & Hong Kong — and we make holograms.
We are a small (and growing!) passionate team of artists, inventors, and engineers building a completely new interface paradigm –one that is three-dimensional, shared, and magical. To help us create these magical shared holographic experiences, we’re seeking a seasoned software engineer with expertise in real-time rendering and video processing.
Why we need you
We are working to build a future that is more Star Trek and less Ready Player One. To accomplish this mission, we’re building a diverse team of people from different backgrounds and experiences. As such, we encourage women, people of color, and others from historically marginalized groups to apply.
Lastly, given that we are iterating on products using custom hardware, we prefer candidates local to New York, but a fully remote position is an option for highly qualified candidates.
In this role, you will be:
- Creating technical designs from product requirements for new features and capabilities
- Leading software development across multiple layers of our software stack (embedded system, driver interface, application layer)
- Working with internal stakeholders to plan out technical projects
- Creating applications for artists, designers, developers, and scientists
- Coaching and mentoring junior engineers on the team
Requirements
You’ll need these to qualify:
- Strong command of software engineering fundamentals and linear algebra
- 8+ years of professional software development experience using C++
- 3+ years of experience developing real-time 3D graphics applications using OpenGL, DirectX, Vulkan, and/or Metal
- 3+ years of experience implementing real-time video processing applications
- Experience implementing algorithms using CUDA, OpenCL, or computer shaders
- Experience writing cross-platform compatible code (for Windows, MacOS, and Linux)
- Experience writing unit tests, functional tests, or integration tests
- Experience supporting live production code for customer applications
As a small, ambitious team, we're looking for someone flexible and multidisciplinary. Here are some other skills that are nice to have, but not required:
- Experience working with C#, Python, and/or Javascript
- Experience with developing embedded Linux applications
- Experience developing device drivers
- Experience safely refactoring production code
- Experience implementing OOP design patterns
- Experience with systems integration design patterns
Benefits
- Salary Range: $140k-$160k
- Health care stipend
- Stock options
- 401(k) plan with employer matching benefit
- Three weeks of paid vacation per year
- Four Summer Fridays
- Paid sick leave days
