Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

We are looking for a backend engineer to join our team and work on building foundational financial products for immigrants to the United States. Our vision is to help immigrants establish themselves financially in the U.S. and build wealth through our core products of ITIN registration and personal financial services.

You will help us execute on our vision by building the backend that powers our consumer mobile app and internal web application. You will build out new customer-facing products and features, contribute to our CI/CD and platform infrastructure, and improve the reliability and observability of our backend services.

We are a small team, mostly based in NYC. We work together onsite in a beautiful office in Union Square which helps us collaborate and move quickly to serve our customers.

Requirements

• You have 4+ years of software development experience building web products.
• You have strong experience with data modeling, api design, relational databases, cloud platforms, and containerization technologies.
• You have prior experience working at a venture-backed startup and building products 0 to 1.
• You are comfortable owning projects from conception to release and monitoring results post-release.
• You have strong business and product acumen. You are comfortable defining requirements for projects, engaging stakeholders from other teams, and are able to make incremental progress on projects despite some areas of ambiguity.
• You believe that software engineering is a team discipline. You give thoughtful code reviews and are eager to share knowledge with others and unblock your teammates.
• You are curious to learn about the challenges immigrants in the U.S. face, and are excited to solve problems for our customers.

Nice to haves:

• We believe that languages and frameworks are tools, and good engineers can be successful with any toolkit. However, prior experience with some of our core technologies: Typescript, Postgres, Graphql, GCP, Kubernetes, Datadog, Github Actions, will help you ramp faster.
• You have prior experience working on a consumer app, fintech products, or products in a regulated industry.
