Advanced Automation Corporation (AAC) is seeking a Software Systems Engineer (Computer and Mobile Simulations) who will contribute to the creation, implementation, maintenance, performance, production, support and documentation of the Distributive Learning (DL) application. This role will work with a development team to aid instructional designers (ISD) and subject matter experts (SME) in the ideation, design, and implementation of learning exercises throughout the DL application.
Essential Job Functions:
- Design and develop client-side components that will enhance the user experience of the DL application and its various learning exercises.
- Deliver impactful desktop and mobile experiences through standard UX practices.
- Collaborate with the instructional design team to provide technical insight during ideation of learning exercises with design mock-ups and technical specifications.
- Contribute and further establish consistent design standards for the DL application and its various components and exercises.
- Work collaboratively with team members of all levels to meet client expectations and produce high quality deliverables.
- Implement Section 508 accessibility standards to ensure compliance.
- Ensure timeliness while working on tasks throughout an agile product lifecycle.
- Incorporate CSS templates to generate highly interactive and engaging online training.
- Integrate premium film content into courseware interactions using project standards.
- Make edits and adjustments to interactive templates based on project standards
- Assist other Training and Education team members with conceptual design of new learning elements.
- Perform other related duties and assignments as assigned by supervisor/manager.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Simulation and Game Programming or related field of study
- 5+ years of programming experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React UI library, mobile and game development.
- Knowledge and experience in implementing and integrating adapter learning techniques into courseware using either code or authoring tools.
- Sound knowledge of graphic and interactive design principles and ability to apply that knowledge through responsive design.
- Experience developing Interactive Multimedia Instruction (IMI).
- Knowledge of SCORM standards and specifications (2004 3rd edition).
- Experience working with git and version control software.
- Exposure to and basic knowledge of Section 508 compliant and SCORM 2004 conformant web-based solutions.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and other design software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional paid experience developing successful scoring computer and mobile DL games and simulations in DL training environments for the DOD.
- Understanding of Redux and React Hooks.
- Provide an online portfolio of work.
