Talent Vision, a Staffing and Consulting Firm, is partnering with a respected charter school in Rochester, NY, to fill the position of Middle School Special Education Teacher. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with diverse learning needs and ensuring they have access to a quality education. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, tailoring instruction to meet their unique learning goals.
- Collaborate with general education teachers and other support staff to provide appropriate accommodations and modifications for students with special needs in the general education setting.
- Use a variety of instructional techniques, materials, and technology to engage students and promote learning.
- Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies to meet individual needs and learning styles.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students, both in inclusive classroom settings and in small-group or one-on-one settings as needed.
- Implement behavior management strategies and support students' social-emotional development.
- Utilize data and ongoing assessment to monitor and document student progress, and collaborate with parents/guardians to communicate student achievements and areas for growth.
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development and implementation of students' individualized education plans.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective instructional practices and strategies.
- Stay current with research-based best practices in special education and participate in professional development opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with school and district policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field is required; a master's degree is preferred.
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education for middle school is required.
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including those with learning disabilities, emotional/behavioral disorders, and/or intellectual disabilities.
- Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Strong understanding of different learning styles and the ability to differentiate instruction accordingly.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents/guardians, and fellow educators.
- Understanding of behavior management techniques and strategies.
- Flexibility and adaptability in responding to the varying needs of students.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting the academic and social-emotional growth of students.
- Proficiency in using technology to enhance instruction and track student progress.
- Experience with developing and implementing IEPs.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
