UpVentures is seeking a skilled Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team. You will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, performing essential accounting and reporting tasks, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. You will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, collaborate with a diverse team, and contribute to the success of our organization. This position reports to the UpVentures CFO, requires working closely with UpVentures staff across different business units and coordination with external service providers responsible for tax, audit, etc. Salary will be based on candidate experience.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain financial records, including but not limited to accounts payable and receivable, expense tracking, bank/credit card reconciliations and general ledger entries
- Process invoices, payments, and payroll transactions accurately and in a timely manner
- Assist in preparing financial statements, budgets, and reports for management review
- Assist CFO in the preparation of board packages
- Assist CFO in preparing monthly cash and GAAP forecasts
- Conduct periodic reconciliations of accounts to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies
- Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and potential risks
- Maintain standardized workpapers for all balance sheet accounts and some income statement accounts, including but not limited to fixed asset records and depreciation
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as auditors and tax professionals, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Support the preparation and filing of tax returns and audits
- Work closely with the finance team to improve internal controls and processes, and contribute to the overall efficiency of the finance function
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, or a related field
- 3+ years work experience as a bookkeeper, accountant or related finance role
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures
- Proficiency with accounting software, Google Drive, GoogleDocs, MS Office Suite, especially Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial calculations
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality of financial information
- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in bookkeeping and accounting is preferred but not required
