Full Job Description
Utilize your unique talents at our exciting outdoor summer camp serving children from 3 to 12 years old. We are looking for a highly energetic, passionate professional with summer camp leadership experience to serve as the primary face of our week-to-week camp located in downtown Manhattan.
Our campers enjoy daily activities that range from sports and movement like soccer, volleyball, paddle tennis, flag football, fitness fun, yoga, and more to interactive arts and creative crafts. PLUS, summertime STEM activities, amazing outdoor adventures, water time, group games, music/theater and so much more!
The Camp Director will lead our dedicated team of staff, be highly organized/knowledgeable in managing all aspects of camp operations and programming and bring their awesome style to our great camp experience. The right candidate will be available to work part-time beginning in early April through May and full-time from June through August.
Pre-Camp (April-June)
- Collaborate with team on weekly programming
- Build and maintain a team of talented staff
- Organize training
- Communicate with families and enroll campers
- Support in compliance with Department of Health regulations
- Acclimate with the registration process and weekly roster management
- Be available for pre-camp prep and weekend promotions as needed
- Obtain Department of Health Directors Orientation
- Obtain CPR Pro/Advanced First Aid Training
- Ensure Summer Camp is ready to go on June 24th
Summer Camp Season (June 24th-August 30th)
- Manage weekly schedule and programming, enhancing camp theme activities
- Manage and develop team members; administer mid and end-of-summer staff evaluations
- Monitor the organization, supervision, and administration of all activities
- Coordinate and communicate daily schedules to staff
- Interface with camp parents/guardians through written and verbal communication.
- Be accessible and responsive by phone and email
- Serve as primary parent liaise; helping camp families with questions,
concerns, and requests - Perform group supervision of campers
- Manage daily camper sign-in and pick-up procedures
- Follow and ensure staff implementation of all rules, guidelines, policies, and procedures in the Camp Handbook.
- Be a positive role model for the campers and staff at all times
Requirements
- Possess a minimum of 3 years of camp leadership experience working with children
- Demonstrate the ability to sustain positive working relationships with staff, parents, and caregivers
- Proven ability to prioritize decision-making and problem-solving
- Demonstrate superior conflict-resolution skills
- Must have strong organizational and administrative skills
- Be able to satisfactorily pass an NYS background check
- Be able to commit full-time attention for ten weeks of camp
Benefits
- Temporary, Full-time role for the summer
- Pre-Camp Hourly Rate $30 - $35/hr
- Camp Season Weekly Rate $ 1300-$1400
