The ideal candidate for Rushdown is a self-motivated, multi-tasker, and demonstrated team-player. Your primary responsibility will be to build systems in Unreal to support modern multiplayer games. You should excel in working with large-scale applications and have outstanding communication skills.
Rushdown supports remote, and hybrid work in our newly opened office in Saratoga Springs, New York.
Responsibilities
- Develop and design systems used to manage multiplayer player sessions on dedicated servers.
- Work with backend engineers, and designers to integrate new features for multiplayer games.
- Ensure backend APIs are used efficiently, and data is cached properly in the client.
- Build tools that enable designers to easily work with and configure online systems.
Requirements

- 3+ years experience working on multiplayer games in Unreal Engine.
- You have worked on a multiplayer game that has shipped.
- Experience integrating with dedicated server fleet management services like Multiplay, GameLift, or Agones.
- Strong communicator - proactive about unblocking yourself, asking questions, and navigating obstacles with a team.
- Passionate about video games.
- You’re a pragmatic engineer that puts player experiences over your own ego and code.
- You want to learn something new. Your work may take you into systems you’ve not touched before, such as UE4 engine code, netcode, graphics, AI, UI, build systems, and beyond.
