Blackstone Shooting Sports, a premier entertainment facility in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to join our finance team. Our facility is dedicated to providing an exceptional experience for our customers, and we are looking for a finance professional who can contribute to our continued success.
We are in search of a Controller who will be integral in managing our financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance processes. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of retail finance, strong analytical abilities, and the capability to lead a finance team effectively. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in accounting and finance, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting operations, including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
- Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Develop and implement financial strategies to support the company's growth and profitability.
- Provide strategic recommendations to the executive team based on financial analysis and projections.
- Drive process improvements and efficiencies within the finance department.
Requirements
Requirements:
- Proven working experience as a Controller or similar role in the retail industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; MBA preferred.
- CPA or CMA preferred
- At least 10 years of hands-on accounting experience, at least 5 of which were in an entrepreneurial environment
- Advanced Quickbooks Desktop and Microsoft Excel user
- Experience in retail and/or hospitality industries considered a plus
- Data entry skills and a knack for numbers
- Strong computer and technology skills
- Ability to organize and prioritize activities
- Strong attention to detail and confidentiality
