Summary:
The payroll specialist processes time records, calculates biweekly payroll, and performs other activities to ensure employees receive accurate pay while maintaining compliance with relevant policies and laws.
Job Description:
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Calculate, review, and distribute pay according to university policy.
- Prepare reports and audits such as quarterly tax filings, reemployment liabilities, workers’ compensation, 5500, and W-2's.
- Maintain payroll records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Communicate with managers and employees regarding payroll systems and processes.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all payroll and employee related matters.
- Contribute to team effort by executing special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Knowledge of state payroll rules and regulations; multi-state experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to problem-solve and work independently.
- High attention to detail and ability to calculate figures and amounts accurately.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other computer systems; Workday preferred.
Minimum qualifications
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.; Bachelor's preferred.
- At least two (2) years' experience processing payroll.
