Textum OPCO, LLC is hiring a Sr Materials and Process Engineer for it's Belmont, NC textile manufacturing operation.

Whether it's thermal protection systems for space vehicles, preforms for CMC components, or preforms and fabrics for carbon-carbon processing, we have the experience and expertise to help ensure our customer's success both as a reinforcement provider and through delivery of finished parts.
We are looking for a qualified Sr Materials and Process Engineer to support both development and production activities related to textile manufacturing. This role requires a significant level of prior experience. The ideal candidate will have experience designing, building, and working with mechanical systems; interfacing with vendors, technicians, and peers; and communicating challenges, identifying needs, and formulating plans to overcome those challenges and needs. The role also includes a small team of direct reports. They will be expected to maintain safety and productivity while working within a quality system, and they will support all aspects of production from supply chain management to product delivery. The Sr Materials and Process Engineer will perform a wide variety of hands-on activities including, but not limited to: custom equipment design, build, and maintenance; production equipment style changes; additive manufacturing; metal machining; and PLC programming.
This is a full-time, direct hire position with 1st shift hours.

Responsibilities
Perform a wide variety of engineering tasks, including but not limited to: process documentation, product fabrication, internal and external communication, supplier coordination, engineering management, technician leadership, and shop management
- Support both production and R&D activities
- Generate and prepare prints, work orders, and other documents and communicate them to technicians
- Train, lead, and manage engineers to complete tasks
- Train and lead technicians to complete tasks
- Help define R&D roadmaps
- R&D scheduling and asset management
- Integrate and coordinate with production scheduling and asset management
- Transition new products from R&D to production
- Support sales staff in quoting and customer interfacing
- Support production with troubleshooting and engineering support
- Assist with IP creation, documentation, and protection
- Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility
- Maintain equipment and assist in ordering supplies
- Conduct quality control on finished parts and identify/document defects
- Work with a variety of chemicals, fluids, and compressed gases and follow all OSHA standards in regards to personal protective equipment.
- Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times and maintain a clean and orderly environment
Requirements
- Applicants must be an exclusive US Citizens
- Applicants must be willing and able to apply for and maintain a US DoD Security Clearance
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required
- A Master's degree or PhD is a plus
- Specialization in mechanical, aerospace, composites, textiles, or materials engineering is desired
- Experience working with advanced textile weaving is a plus
- Experience working with composite materials is a significant advantage
- General mechanical/technical aptitude and good manual dexterity required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment autonomously and under pressure and complete all assigned tasks
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and perform basic math calculations
- Ability to solve problems using existing procedures to perform straightforward tasks
- Can work well with others in a diverse group and foster a cooperative work environment
- Possess a working knowledge of MS Office
- Ability to operate a variety of hand tools and machinery
- Candidates will be required to pass a drug test
- Candidates will be required to pass a background check
