Job Summary
The Quality Assurance Lead assists the QA Manager and QA Supervisor(s) in the day-to-day operations of the Quality Assurance Department on a particular shift.
3-5 Essential Job Functions
- Assigns departmental workload and tasks in order to meet departmental goals in support of production. Assures departmental objectives and priorities are communicated to and understood by QA staff. Monitors, directs, and supports staff in support of manufacturing.
- Tracks and reports on quality metrics within the department as assigned.
- Tracking WIP vs Current Runs: Ensuring WIP is consumed
- Educate QA department employees work with and understand operating procedures and established quality procedures on the shift.
- Maintain, lead, and own 5S in cage
- Helps maintain inspection standards to assure incoming materials, work in process, and finished products meet company and customer requirements for the shift.
- Owner of the first pulls samples, tracking, shipping, and sign off
- Handles document retention process & retains
- Owns the shift change meetings
- Model Quality behaviors and attitudes through effective problem-solving, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and recognition of the role of everyone in achieving quality first-time and every-time.
- Process Audits on the shifts: immediate addressing of issues.
- RCA simple problems and reports
- Owner of the Quarantine process for their shift
Requirements
-5 Vital Soft Skills
- Able to perform and/or instruct QA inspectors and technicians on all departmental tasks related to inspection (incoming, in-process, finished goods) as required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work accurately, with interruptions, to meet deadlines.
- Must be able to direct department and handle low level issues and altercations
- Able to learn and use quality tools (SPC, root cause analysis, data capture & analysis)
- Able to learn and use LEAN Manufacturing.
- Excellent problem solving skills.
Range of Experience Required
1 to 3 years
Education Level Required (minimum degree)
Minimum of high school diploma; technical school or college training a plus
Additional Abilities Valuable for Success
Strong basic skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as rate, ratio, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to interpret graphs and charts
