Full Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Childcare Driver/Cook to add to our growing team at our childcare and preschool center located in Cleveland, Ohio.
As a Cook, you will be responsible for overall planning and food preparation in the Center. The candidate should be able to prepare and serve attractive nutritionally balanced meals to the center children and staff. This position is responsible for maintaining high standards of quality food needed to meet menu requirements along with cleaning, sanitizing the kitchen and responsible for the unpacking of weekly delivered groceries.
As a Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting children (5 years of age - 12 years of age) to and from childcare center to assigned local schools and field trips. The Bus Driver ensures that the bus is regularly maintained, refueled, visual safety check to ensure safe for driving and conscientious about staying on schedule in a safe manner. In addition, driver must be able to enter and exit vehicle without assistance and withstand exposure to adverse weather conditions.

Responsibilities
- Assist with food prep and cooking for children in accordance with established menus and recipes.
- Comply with state and federal regulations for food safety and sanitation.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and storage area, including routine cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting of kitchen surfaces and equipment.
- Assist with inventory management, including ordering and receiving of food and supplies.
- Driving a 14-passenger school bus and/or 6 passenger minivan. (No CDL Required).
- Potential Candidate should have previous driving experience and be comfortable with groups of children (5 years of age - 12 years of age).
- Driver must always wear safety bely assembly while driving and maintain appropriate management.
- Ensure that all passengers wear seat belts.
- Ensure each child's safety by maintaining vehicle functionality regularly and implementing safety procedures with the center Director.
- Comply with ODJFS state licensing guidelines and requirements regarding transportation.
- Assist in documentation for attendance and transportation services provided.
- Visually observe the health of each child on the bus.
- Ensure that no child is ever left unattended while on the bus.
- Ensure that each child is delivered to the care of a responsible adult upon leaving bus.
- Attend and participate in Center-provided meetings and trainings to comply with state regulations for child care professionals.
Requirements
- At least a high school diploma or equivalent.
- No college degree required.
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
- AA or higher degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field will have a competitive edge.
- Current physical, and ability to pass BCI/FBI background check.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation principles and practices including routine cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting of kitchen surfaces and equipment.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Ability to kneel, bend, squat, stand, and sit on child-sized furniture or on the floor for extended periods.
- Ability to repetitively lift and move children, with a weight capacity of up to 50lbs.
- Comfort working in a moderate to noisy environment.
- Preparedness to assist children in emergency situations.
- Physical ability to stay within arm's reach of children, ensuring proximity and safety.
- Participation in safety drills, adhering to guidelines including relocating children, which may involve moving cribs with multiple children to designated safe areas.
- Endurance to withstand varying outdoor conditions and temperatures for prolonged durations throughout all seasons.
