Full Job Description
Qualis Corporation is seeking a Scientist/Engineer II at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH for the TMAS Range Task Order. This position supports the 96th Test Group Aerospace Survivability and Safety Operating Location's (704 TG/OL-AC) Landing Gear Test Facility (704 TG/OL-ACL).
Duties for this position include responsibility for Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDAT&E) for aircraft and space vehicle flight hardware qualification.
Requirements
Responsibilities
Perform technical engineering duties in support of test program or project to predict and evaluate flight hardware and operational systems:
- Evaluates customer test requirements for aircraft landing gear, tires, wheels, brakes, or components;
- Prepares test procedures based on established test method or Design of Experiment (DOE) principals;
- Oversight and monitoring of testing and assists when needed;
- Reviews and analyzes test data and may adjust test program parameters based on actual results;
- Provides daily/weekly progress reports, as needed;
- Prepares written test reports;
- Assists in the preparation of briefings and presentations to government working levels and senior government officials and communicates effectively with both technical and non-technical customers;
- Performs test system engineering analysis and participates in determining requirements for upgrades to facility electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and/or computer equipment
Education and Experience
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited engineering school and up to three (3) years related engineering experience, or a master's degree from an accredited engineering school.
- Experience specifically in the area of aerospace vehicle equipment design, structural fatigue and dynamometer testing, and quality assurance; specifically aircraft landing gear, tires, wheels, and brakes required. Comparable experience and qualifications will be considered in lieu of the specific experience mentioned. State registration as an Engineer-in-Training or as a Professional Engineer is desirable.
- Applicants must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, and must have interpersonal skills allowing them to interact effectively with government officials and contractors.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Project; technical editing; and data management is highly preferred. Experience with MATLAB, Solid Works and other engineering tools is desirable.
Skills include the ability to perform the following:
- Express ideas clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; oral and written communication in the form of presentations, papers, test plans, reports, E-mails, to fund, operate, evaluate, report status on, sustain, redirect, and close-out in-house and contractual projects.
- Ability to generate, read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Develop and use plans to execute and track project/program performance.
- Advocate, plan, and direct testing at facilities for understanding and qualification of flight hardware.
- Develop, apply, assess, and improve rules/tools to predict and compare test results.
- Assess technical, financial, and schedule performance using agreed upon metric.
- Communicate and comply with all relevant Federal and local safety, security and interpersonal relations policies, regulations, and procedures.
Clearance
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Candidate must be able to pass a NACI (National Background Check with Inquires).
Travel
- 5% travel requirement.
