Job Summary: The Title Intern will experience the day-to-day activities that support TransOhio Title Agency. The intern will receive an overview of the builder title process, introduction to the steps required to issue title insurance, and see the overall process for how M/I Title, M/I Financial and M/I Homes work together for a great customer experience. The intern will receive guidance from team members, the TransOhio Title Agency leadership team, and will participate in team and organizational meetings.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Interns will have exposure working in a corporate environment at TransOhio Title Agency within the financial and title industry.
- An introduction to understanding title insurance, title searches, how the search turns into a commitment, how the commitment turns into a policy and what is a closing.
- Experience in title production through understanding how we receive title orders from M/I Homes, when to order title searches, receiving searches and completing commitments, title updates and understanding vesting issues and the underwriting process.
- Opportunity to understand the closing process that includes creation of deeds, communications with MIF/OSL and scheduling the closing, creating a CD/Settlement Statement, reading settlement statements, processing closing packages, document review for vesting, creation of title policies and opportunities to attend closings.
- Experience in post-closing that includes review of signed documents, delivery of documents to MIF/OSL, sending documents for recording (physically and electronically), escrow account review – check printing, roles of various partners in file, and remittance.

Minimum Education/Qualifications
- Ideal candidate is working toward a bachelor’s or associate degree in Finance, Business Administration, Real Estate, or a related field.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Aptitude for learning and understanding mortgage and title operations
