Seeking a Venture Analyst to join our rapidly growing venture studio!

Are you interested in hands-on market research, customer discovery, financial modeling, and how emerging technologies fit into the market? Rushlight Ventures is seeking a Venture Analyst.

The job duties breakdown is envisioned to be approximately:

  • 70% market characterization, customer/user discovery, analysis, & recommendations
  • 15% financial modeling/business planning
  • 15% situational growth opportunities, depending on your skills & passions

This role will report to the President of Rushlight Ventures, but we operate as a team, and this role will have a voice in direction setting and decision making. The pace of work will ensure you can make a difference every day across multiple projects and task types.

Travel should be moderate, and this role has a hybrid work setting potential.

Who is Rushlight Ventures?

Rushlight Ventures is a young venture studio. We are not an investment fund – we work with small businesses to commercialize the intellectual property they have developed while conducting research for the federal government. Our focus is to find commercial opportunities for their technology via transitioning technology into  products, startups or internal business units, or facilitating license deals or M&A transactions. Headquartered in the Miami Valley Ohio region, Rushlight Ventures is a Rushlight Assets company and focuses its commercialization efforts heavily on related entity technologies (e.g., www.CRGrp.com). We have offices in Miamisburg and downtown Dayton. We are a small team doing big things and blazing new trails. Join us!

Requirements

  • Exclusive US citizenship required
  • B.S. in business administration (or equivalent) or MBA from an accredited university required
  • Experience in market research and characterization, and analysis of business strategy and value proposition is preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Qualified Candidates will be able to:

  • Conduct market research over a wide range of high-tech markets, such as aerospace, medical, power, defense, software, sensors, electronics, etc.
  • Draft market characterization reports
  • Develop initial commercialization strategy, including product-market fit and go-to-market strategies
  • Analyze market size, growth, segments, channels, competition, behaviors, trends, margin structure, M&A activity, etc.
  • Ability to understand the value proposition of emerging technology and how it might fit into the market
  • Conduct first-person customer discovery
  • Apply classic analysis tools, such as SWOT, Porter, Wendy Kennedy, business model canvas, etc.
  • Compile analysis and provide recommendations
  • Develop financial models and pro forma projections to use as a basis for understanding the relative value of specific business opportunities
  • Contribute to creating commercialization plans and business plans

Salary Range: $65,000 - $80, 000 depending on experience.
