We’re seeking a caregiver “Personal Assistant” who will support a cool, young man that experiences developmental disabilities. He lives in his own apartment near NW 23rd. He is independent and active, and interested in screenwriting, creating comic books, going out for coffee, playing video games, and hanging out at Powell’s. He needs your assistance to prepare medication and meals, do household chores, bathe, and get dressed. You will also assist by providing some life coaching and talking him through situations when he is experiencing anxiety.
Driving is not a requirement for this position. However, if you choose to drive, there is available street parking in his neighborhood. This young man lives near the popular MAX lines for those that rely on public transit.
You’ll work two shifts per week, totaling 27 hours per week:
- 8pm on Friday through 9:30am on Saturday (a 13.5-hour shift)
- 8pm on Saturday through 9:30am on Sunday (a 13.5-hour shift)
In addition, if you are available to work the additional shift below, your total hours would be 30 hours per week.
- 2pm to 5pm on Saturday (3-hour shift)
*You’ll also work your regular hours on Agency holidays.

Requirements
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- Be able to pass our pre-hiring screenings, including a reference check, a physical with a lifting test of 50lbs, and a criminal history background check.
- Driving on the job is optional—if choosing to drive for UCP, you must be at least 18 years old, have a current driver’s license, a reliable personal vehicle, at least two years of driving experience, auto insurance, and a clean driving record.
- Experience in the mental health or developmental disability field preferred, but not required.
Benefits
- If you work between 30 to 40 hours per week:
- $18.00 per hour. Annual wage increase based on satisfactory performance.
- Eligible for overtime pay for hours worked over 40 hours per week.
- Holiday pay (double pay for the first 12 hours of any agency holiday shift that you work).

- 3 weeks of paid time off per year rising to 4 weeks after 5 years of service at UCP. If you work 30 hours per week on average, your PTO accrual is pro-rated based on the actual hours you have worked every two weeks.

- If you work between 20 to 29 hours per week:
- $18.00 per hour. Annual wage increase based on satisfactory performance.
- Eligible for overtime pay for hours worked over 40 hours per week.
- Holiday pay (double pay for the first 12 hours of any agency holiday shift that you work).
- If you work 27 hours per week, you will receive 2 weeks of paid time off per year.
- Mileage reimbursement if driving for UCP.
